Structured for Success
Our unique program has four parts that work together to help you progress from being ready for change through to achieving long-term recovery success.
Part 1
Pre-Treatment: get ready for recovery
This part of the program is tailored specifically to your individual needs depending on where you are in your journey. It is our way of setting you up for success and taking the time to create the best treatment plan for you.
If you already meet our requirement for 28 days sobriety from drugs and alcohol before entering our Live-In program we will focus on helping you get organized and prepared for starting treatment with us. If you aren’t yet at that stage, we can create a free Pre-Treatment program for you that includes supporting you to achieve the required number of days sobriety.
Contact us to find out more about how our Pre-Treatment program can get you set for recovery success.
Part 2
Live-In: understand yourself and be empowered to face the challenges of recovery
Within the safe and welcoming environment of our residential centre, your individual treatment plan will be put into practice alongside a structured program of:
- group and private therapy sessions;
- educational workshops;
- self-help groups; and
- taking responsibility for daily household and healthy living routines.
Every aspect of our program is designed to help you discover the answers to two crucial questions; “why did I become addicted?” and “how do I recover?”. We’ll support you to safely explore the connections between long-term pain and addictive behaviours so that you are less likely to return to old patterns of thinking and behaviour that may lead to relapse.
We incorporate Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) approaches within our program to help you develop skills to cope with distressing emotions safely – using mindfulness and distress tolerance to manage urges and cravings. DBT is an evidence-based therapy that helps you build mastery and a sense of accomplishment with navigating life’s challenges, and begin to create the healthy life you want to live. Curious about how DBT can support you in recovery? Contact us, we are always happy to tell you more and answer your questions.
Being a small, all gender, community-based live-in program means that we are able to create a residential environment that models healthy family life and provides many opportunities to develop new life skills and routines and connect with healthy supports. We want to do everything we can to prepare you for life after treatment and ensure your long-term recovery.
Part 3
The Branch: optional transitional housing
Helping you develop greater independence and grow in recovery. Available to graduates of the Tamarack Live-In program The Branch offers safe, sober and cost-effective housing managed by Tamarack and staffed 24/7.
It’s located close to our current treatment centre so we can seamlessly extend our culture of safety and connection in a home-like setting . This supported living environment gives graduates the time and space to practice and get confident with the life and recovery skills developed in our Live-In program before finding their own accommodation.
“It makes a big difference to have 24/7 staff on hand. All the other recovery houses I’ve lived in were not staffed all of the time and didn’t feel as safe.”
– The Branch Participant
Part 4
Forward in Recovery: maintain the momentum of recovery
Maintain the momentum of recovery with lifetime aftercare support. Recovery is a journey that doesn’t end when treatment is complete; often, some of the biggest challenges lie in ‘life after treatment.’ That’s why we offer our graduates free of charge services to ensure their recovery skills are retained and strengthened when they return to their family, community and employment.
On completing our program you may need the time and space to continue your work or address new challenges, our Forward in Recovery provision means you can do this in a familiar setting and with someone you know and trust. The Aftercare program is completely free and has no end date. If you’d like to know more about the support we can offer after you complete our Live-In treatment program, contact us – we’re keen to answer your questions about these really unique parts of our program.
