Family* members of our clients have seen the worst and the best of their loved ones - they have struggled with them through their toughest times and have celebrated their return to sobriety when they complete the program. Recovery is their journey too and sometimes it can be stressful and exhausting. We want families to experience the joy of recovery, that’s why Tamarack offers families of clients and graduates:

• an early connection to Forward in Recovery aftercare program staff. During intake and part-way through the program, family members (with client permission) will be invited to connect with us so we can provide initial support and information about the treatment and recovery process, self-care and referrals to other community support services;

• a post-graduation program of weekly support and education sessions. These group meetings focus on the needs of family members – providing a safe and compassionate space to share, acknowledge and learn about the issues important to them as they support a loved one’s recovery.

• individual post-graduation meetings with the Forward in Recovery coordinator. We understand that family members may have questions, concerns or support needs that they want to address in private. Our Forward in Recovery coordinator is there for them, providing guidance and connections to additional supports.

Are you a family member with questions about the Tamarack treatment program or the recovery process? Visit our FAQs pages or contact the Forward in Recovery coordinator for answers.

The launch of the enhanced Tamarack aftercare program is made possible in part by community grants from The Winnipeg Foundation and Manitoba Community Services Council. We are grateful for their support.

* Tamarack defines family as those people who are members of the client’s support family of choosing or biological family who are an active support to the client in their recovery. Back to top.
