We want to ensure that the recovery skills developed by clients in our program are retained and strengthened when they return to their family, community and employment, that’s why we offer our graduates:

• one to one post-graduation counselling with their Tamarack counsellor for up to three months, free of charge**. Graduates may need the time and space to continue their work on deeply held issues or address new challenges encountered in life after treatment. Our Forward in Recovery provision means they can do this within a familiar setting and with someone they know and trust;

• one to one continued recovery management with the Aftercare Coordinator because recovery doesn’t happen in a bubble. The plans for continued recovery that clients make prior to graduation must be reshaped as their lives change. Forward in Recovery gives graduates the opportunity to continue to work with a skilled staff member who is familiar with their needs and can support them in identifying individualised solutions, goals and choices that will strengthen their new sober lifestyle;

• a structured twice-weekly group. Facilitated by the Aftercare Coordinator these open-intake peer support groups provide positive connection and fellowship to help graduates maintain their recovery goals and healthy new life;

• a ‘warm-line’ staffed by our qualified and experienced registered care workers who understand what graduates are going through and are ready to listen to their concerns. Graduates can call the line anytime they are in need of support; and

• drop-in services so they can drop-in to Tamarack whenever*** they want to connect with healthy supports or are in need of a safe space.

Are you a family member with questions about the Tamarack treatment program or the recovery process? Visit our FAQs pages or contact the Forward in Recovery coordinator for answers.

The launch of the enhanced Tamarack aftercare program is made possible in part by community grants from The Winnipeg Foundation and Manitoba Community Services Council. We are grateful for their support.

**Graduates are welcome to continue with individual counselling beyond the three month/twelve session limit on a fee for service basis. Rates for this service are reasonable - please contact our Aftercare Coordinator for details. Back to top.

*** For the safety of all our clients this service is only available to graduates who have attained a pre-agreed period of time without using substances. Back to top.
